The Fire in My Throat
“A poem begins with a lump in the throat…” – Robert Frost
This series began with a lump in my throat, the shock of grief that left me speechless; for the first time, I had a keen awareness of my mortality. I held tight to an essential childhood lesson: look for beauty in the ordinary. Time, impermanence, and the sensual world are tightly woven throughout this work. The Fire in My Throat looks for the extraordinary in the everyday. It is an homage to my childhood wanderings.
